My prayer when I was starting this year was that God will boost my faith in Him, raise my ability to fully trust in Him and also quash all my fears.
Its an assurance for us to look through the eyes of faith and not of fear. This does not detach the fact that bad times and anxiety will come but it means that even amidst the storm we will chose faith.
Faith has a language and so does fear. The language of faith is in God’s word and His promises to us in the bible and the language of fear is every voice that we hear and is not of God.
2 Chronicles 20: 15-17 expounds more about faith
15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
In summary God was telling them not to fear because of what they saw with their human eyes or what they heard for it was never their role to fight, their role was to take the battle to God and to trust Him to do the fighting.
Verse 16 and 17 are basically an assurance and reminder that battles, difficulties and anxieties will come but all we need to do is take our positions, stand still and wait on God.
Demonstrate your faith this year in prayer, take your position by standing in truth and making everything right with you and God then lean back and trust Him to do the rest.
In 2019 we are fixing our eyes on Jesus alone and shifting our faith into action. You may also look back to the moments in your life when you stood in faith and saw God’s goodness, then write them down as a reminder that He will do much more good to you going forward
